Primary Children's Medical Center holds annual KSL Radiothon
The 2009 KSL/Primary Children's Medical Center Radiothon will broadcast live from the hospital in Salt Lake City beginning Wednesday, February 25, and ending Thursday, February 26.
This year marks the 33rd annual radiothon for children in need at PCMC. Funds raised during the event are used to help children and their families who cannot afford their medical needs. During the radiothon, KSL Newsradio host's will interview patients, families, and staff about their experiences at Primary Children's.
Notable guests in the past have been former Utah Senator and astronaut Jake Garn, Senator Bob Bennett, and Governor Jon M. Huntsman Jr.
Since 1977, the radiothon has raised 6.7 million dollars for children. Last year, a record amount of nearly half a million dollars was raised. This year, the hospital hopes the event will generate similar amounts to aid the hospital's mission and needs the community's help to do that.
Support from the community provides Primary Children's with a margin of excellence in service that wouldn't be possible otherwise. The hospital serves about one million children and their families each year including hundreds of children from Cache Valley.
Tune in to KSL 1160 AM beginning at 4 p.m. Wednesday until 6 p.m. Thursday for information about how to donate. For Spanish listeners, the last 3 years have been broadcast by Bustos Media which can be found locally on KXTA 1600 AM La Bonita.
Primary Children's Medical Center was founded in 1922. It is rated the 10th best children's hospital in the US and serves about one million children and their families in the intermountain region including all of Utah and four surrounding states. The KSL Newsradio/Primary Children's Medical Center Radiothon began in 1977 and has been broadcast by KSL 1160 every year since.
